Suction gas-cooled HG and air-cooled HA compressors offer a full capacity range of innovative, modern compressor technology with 2-, 4-, 6- and 8-cylinders. Suitable for all current refrigerants, as well as CO2. For the EX range, GEA is the first European manufacturer to offer compressors certified according to ATEX machine category 2.

HA Single-Stage Compressors

Semi-hermetic HA compressors are primarily used for deep-freezing.

Special features:

  • Direct intake with external ventilation
  • Suction gas intake directly into the compressor
  • Motor cooled by an integrated ventilation unit

This reduces the compressed gas temperature and thus expands the range of application while at the same time increasing capacity (deep-freeze, R22, R404A). At the same time, the compressor is physically separated from the compressor, with advantages particularly in the case of motor damage.

HG ATEX Compressors

GEA is the first European manufacturer to offer semi-hermetic compressors certified according to ATEX machine category 2 (zone 1+2). In 2014, GEA also included compressors certified according to ATEX machine category 3 (zone 2) in its program. Within the European Union, electrical and mechanical machinery operated in explosive atmospheres must comply with the so-called ATEX (ATmospheres EXplosibles) conditions. All ATEX compressors are also approved for operation with the current hydrocarbons. The models in the HG Series are the basic compressors for ATEX versions.

HG CO2 Compressors Subcritical

Based on our current semi-hermetic product range, with its outstanding advantages and features, as well as the derived and long-used basic range, there is now a perfectly matched compressor series available for use with CO2 in sub-critical cascade systems. They are particularly suited to supermarket applications and industrial cooling systems.

HG CO2 Compressors Transcritical

Semi-hermetic transcritical CO2 compressors using R744 as natural refrigerant. The compressors are ideally suited for use in transcritical CO2 applications

HG HC Compressors

For various applications, such as the field of supermarket refrigeration, hydrocarbons have established themselves as another natural alternative besides CO2. Due to the flammability of hydrocarbons the compressor has some safety related modifications.

Special features

Based on our current semi-hermetic product range GEA offers a low-cost compressor variant especially for the use with hydrocarbons. Compressors in HC-design have the following features:

  • Motor protection supplied separately for an external installation (e.g. in the switch cabinet)
  • Special oil charge 

HG Single-Stage Compressors

We would like to explicitly state that those compressors are a special edition and the compressors filled with hydrocarbons are to be operated by trained specialists only.
An additional agreement has to be signed (Art. No. 09996) prior to delivery of the HC compressors.

Important notes

The HG model series consists of state-of-the-art classical suction gas-cooled compressor technology. Assurance of effective lubrication by an oil pump, application of exchangeable electrical motors, as well as manufacture of very solid and rugged compressors is ensured.

HGZ Two-Stage Compressors

Based on the 6-cylinder compressor HG7, a selection of two-stage variants is available for extended use in intense cooling. The selection of the liquid intercooler unit is available for three different refrigerants: R404A (R507), R410A and R22. Basically it concerns different expansion valve assemblies. Therefore in the further descriptions only one option (e.g. HGZ7/2110-4 R22) is indicated.

The optional two-stage system is composed of:

  • Liquid supercooler
  • Expansion valve
  • Solenoid valve
  • Sight glass
  • Filter dryer

The two possible optional variants of the HGZ7:

1. Design

Intermediate pressure line mounted and insulated
Liquid supercooler, expansion valve, solenoid valve, two sight glasses, filter dryer everything enclosed separately for individual, external mounting.

2. Design

Liquid supercooler, expansion valve, solenoid valve, two sight glasses, filter dryer attached directly to the compressor, lined and insulated.
